Justice ensures global peace and development: International
Council for Dawa and Relief

The Executive Council of the International Council for Dawa & Relief, met at Cairo on the 3rd and 4th of February 2010, under the chairmanship of Sheikh-ul-Azhar. The meeting reviewed the progress of the last one year regarding relief given to various sectors especially the residents of Gaza who are under pressure from all sides, while access to Gaza has also been stopped. International relief organizations were asked to provide relief to the encircled Gazans on emergency basis because there is acute dearth of medicines and food items. The issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif was discussed extensively, which was declared as an issue of the whole Ummah.

Secretary General of the World Muslim Congress, Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq raised the issue of solidarity with the people of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, who are struggling for over 63 years for independence and to exercise their right of self-determination, ensured through dozens of unanimous Resolutions of the UN Security Council. The Council expressed their solidarity with the people of the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The only democratic and peaceful solution of this issue is possible through the exercise of the right of self-determination under a neutral administration.

The Council also addressed the issue of education and training of the Muslim youth and the rights of Muslim women through their training on the principles enunciated by Islam.

The Council also expressed their deep concern over the spate of discrimination and religious intolerance towards Muslims and their places of worship in the countries of the West, especially the verdict of the referendum on Mosque Minarets in Switzerland.

The Council decided to continue the struggle for equality of opportunity and religious tolerance through-out the world.

Different programmes were scheduled for the ensuing year, in pursuance of the above objectives.
