The history of the Israeli 'state' is a history of war crimes, of brazen violation of human rights and open defiance of UN Charter and world public opinion. During the 62 years of its illegitimate existence the Israeli 'state' has committed more violence and atrocities on human beings than any other state in modern history. In some ways it has surpassed even the Nazi Germany. Its founders resorted to organized terrorism, mass murders and harassment of the Palestinian citizens to hound them out of their hearths and homes, unfortunately, under the very nose and with the clandestine support of western governments.
After its establishment the Israeli 'state', with the massive financial support and supply of military hardware by the United States, launched wars of aggression against the neighboring Arab states, thereby occupying large chunks of their territories and shamelessly declaring its designs to annex more Arab territories for a Greater Israel of the future.
The most unfortunate part of the story is the unconditional US support to Israel in all its unholy adventures and illegal actions. It is a matter of record that the US has used its veto powers in the United Nations Security Council in favor of Israeli 'state' more than for any other state or states.
The Gaza flotilla incident of May 31 was one of the worst of a series of brazen violations of human rights and international law committed by Israel during the last 62 years. But the United State, as usual, stood on the side of Israel despite the fact that it was strongly condemned by many western countries too. That shows that even president Obama's much celebrated slogan of 'change' has had no effect on the traditional US policy with regards to Israel and its war crimes. One may recall here that the US has ignored Israel's violations even though in some of the cases victims have included American citizens.
This unchanging pro-Israel policy of the United States is one of the basic reasons why president Obama's efforts at 'a new beginning with the Muslim world' have failed to bring about any results yet.
Nevertheless, it is a changed world now. As they say, you cannot fool all the people for all the times. The flotilla incident has been condemned the world over. There were people from all faiths and from many different nationalities in the flotilla. It represented a cross section of the international community. For the first time there were large public demonstrations and condemnation of Israel over the uncalled for attack on aid ships, not only in the Arab and Muslim world but in Europe and in the rest of the world too. It is time for the United States to act bold and start a review and reconsideration of its traditional policy towards Israel for the sake of justice and for the sake of world peace.
We would conclude this comment with the statement of Britain's Lord Nazir Ahmed.
"...it is very unfortunate that the Americans have been supporting this breach of international law. I think, America have themselves to look at their own interest in a longer term... the whole world are becoming upset with the way America has been behaving, it is losing support in the international community. It is very sad that the strongest country in the world is actually defying the United Nations itself."
